This weekend I've spent around 90% of my time holed up in my room being cosy and warm and a mere 10% outside in the white stuff. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the snow but I'm never really too keen to be outside in it, I much prefer to watch it coming down from the warmth of my house. Yesterday I braved a short time out of my room, in search of pretty wool at my local shopping centre. I decided to finally indulge in my love of crafts this week and purchase crochet hooks from Amazon (fancy coloured ones of course!) to teach myself how to crochet. When they arrived Saturday morning I was so excited to start learning I ventured out for yarn to get cracking. With my pastel wools in hand I made the most of my time out, bought some gorgeous bargains from Peacocks, treated myself to a new pot plant (isn't it a beautiful shade of violet? yes, I'm 19 going on 90) as well as a couple of cinnamon buns. I hurried home as the icy blasts were too much for my sore face (my skin is super dry in this weather!) and after a few hours of YouTube tutorials and knotting myself up in yarn I had finally succeeded with a perfect square crotchet patch. So far I have 6 squares completed and when the pile has built I'm hoping to put together a blanket. I will be a Crochet Queen in no time!
In between getting angry at my hook and yarn, I flicked through company magazine (all the Girls stuff is fabulous, who doesn't love that show?) and a Christmas gift from my mum, Rachel Khoo 'My Little Paris Kitchen' for some healthy meal inspo with some lovely candles burning away on my desk.
I was finally dragged away from the crochet today by my Dad and brother Shea, to go sledging. A couple of hours out of the house and playing in the dark on a sledge was a perfect end to such a lazy weekend (minus the bruises and stiff hips from crashing off the sledge) It's amazing how much we are affected by snow, be it surprise days of school/work or just spending time having fun with the family, I love it more and more every year. I am crossing my fingers in the hope that Shea has a snow day tomorrow so we can bake sugar cookies and laze around the fire.
How are you baring up in the snow?
